About this class
In this interactive course, students will explore the beginnings of video games and how early technology shaped the gaming world we know today. From arcade classics to the first home consoles, students will learn about the innovation, creativity, and cultural impact of early gaming. Through hands-on activities, gameplay discussions, and creative projects, students will build an understanding of how video games evolved from simple designs into a global phenomenon. This course encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and an appreciation for the foundations of digital play.

Kevin Velez
Kevin Velez is a graduate of LIU Post with a degree in Digital Game Design and a lifelong passion for video games and interactive storytelling. From a young age, he was fascinated not only by playing games, but by the history, creativity, and innovation behind the industry that has shaped entertainment for generations. During his time at LIU Post, Kevin designed and developed countless original games, gaining hands-on experience in game mechanics, storytelling, design theory, and digital production. His work allowed him to turn his passion into a creative skillset, while deepening his appreciation for the evolution of gaming culture and technology. Kevin is excited to bring his enthusiasm, creativity, and knowledge to the classroom, where he hopes to inspire students to explore the world of gaming in new and exciting ways.
