Celebrate the unforgettable history of New York sports in this fun, engaging 10-session continuing education course! From legendary players and championship seasons to historic rivalries, heartbreaking defeats, and heroic moments that New York fans still talk about today, we’ll revisit the teams and personalities that have made the New York sports scene one of the most exciting in the world.
Explore memorable stories from the Yankees, Mets, Giants, Jets, Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Islanders and more. Each session will combine sports history, great stories, trivia, video highlights, and lively group discussion—with plenty of opportunities to share your own favorite teams, players, games, and memories.
The course is led by an enthusiastic and experienced PBS staff known for creating highly interactive group discussions that will make the lectures on history entertaining, relatable, and fun. Whether you are a lifelong sports fanatic or simply enjoy the great stories and personalities behind New York sports, you’ll feel right at home.

Affinity Class Instructor
Michael is a clinical psychologist who has been working in psychiatric hospitals, clinics, and community settings for over 15 years. Michael loves supporting individuals with mental illness, disabilities, and other challenges as they work toward improving their lives. Michael enjoys bringing his experience, humor, and love of sports into his work. It is with great hope that any student joining his Affinity class will feel supported, have fun, and learn as much as possible while doing so!
